How to work with me

Therapy can be very daunting if you haven't been before. Knowing who to trust, whether they can help you, what all the acronyms and terms mean, how to start the process etc.

It can be confusing to know what type of therapy would work for you. You have probably heard of all the current popular terms like EMDR, EFT, CBT etc. Do you really need to know what they all mean or do you just want someone to listen and validate your story and help you get to where you want to be? You don't neccessarily need to know which term might help you, that's my job. Now you don't have to think about that, where do you go from here?

Here is my process for working with me:

1

Have a chat

Ask any questions you have about therapy and see if I am the right therapist for you in my free 15 minute discovery call.

Book your free discovery call

2

Online or in person

If you choose to go ahead, then the next step is to choose whether you wish to work with me online or in person or a bit of both.

3

Choose a date/time

I only work during the day to give you the best possible therapy experience. I work weekdays Mon-Fri. In this step we choose a day and time that works best for both of us.

4

Contracts

Not as scary as it sounds. I send over a digital contract with my terms and conditions of working with me. The contract must be signed before the first session can begin.

5

Payment

The session price and payment is agreed and paid before the first session can begin.

6

The first session

The first session is just a chat to find out more about what brought you to therapy and what your goals are. This session will shape all future sesssions.

Is there anyone I cannot work with?

My practice is guided by very clear guidelines and ethics. As a member of the NCH and QCHPA there are certain people who I cannot work with.

If you have ever been diagnosed with the following conditions, or working with another therapist, I am afraid I will not be able to work with you.

  • Epilepsy
  • Psychosis (Personality Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, Schizophrenia)
  • Narcolepsy
